i don't generally consider myself very interesting. i'm twenty three years old. i'm in the army for the next eighteen months. i'm about to deploy to afghanistan for fifteen months. i'm in a special infantry unit in the united states army. poetry is the most important thing in my life. there are times when i am somewhat complacent and feel that i am a fairly accomplished poetry for my age and experience - that i am at least technically adept; and there are times when i feel i have never written a worthy line. as for the truth, i don't know. it is not somewhere between, as such a paradox allows for no gray area. i prefer formal poetry, from elegaic meter to alexandrine, sonnets to rondelets, etc, although i have recently begun writing much more free verse. my inspiration for this came from music. eric clapton to be exact - cream, you know. i'm not into jazz but i'm interested.

i've been travelling quite a bit lately. i've been to europe a few times and look forward to returning, but not to any place i've been before. i've been on this kick lately where i try not to do anything i've ever done before, ever. well except when it comes to essential things in life. but, you know, always having a new drink, going to a new place, etc. you might call it a form of running from rather than embracing life, but we can only run so far. perhaps i'm trying to rule out all the obvious things before putting it to an end. maybe i'm on the verge of something fulfilling.

in any case, i'm looking for friends. people i can learn from and vice versa, mainly. i could ask for nothing more.
